Amanda's Manticore Adventure - A Top Day Metal Detecting

Join me on a remarkable day of metal detecting as I recount the thrilling journey of unearthing treasures with the Manticore metal detector. From the grandeur of Elizabeth I's reign to modern-day currency and ancient Roman artefacts, I experienced the incredible capabilities of the Minelab Manticore first hand.

My name is Amanda, and I recently purchased my Minelab Manticore from Crawfords Metal Detectors. Here’s a summary of some of the finds I discovered from a recent day out I had with my new awesome metal detector.

Exploring the Reign of Elizabeth I:

As I swept the Manticore over the lush grounds of Wiltshire, a metallic chime filled the air, signalling the discovery of a silver 6 pence coin from Elizabeth I's reign in 1600. Holding the coin in my hands, I was transported back to the Tudor era, envisioning the power and grace of the iconic queen and the countless stories that were woven into this precious artefact.

A Glimpse of Modern Royalty:

Intriguingly, the Manticore's abilities extended far beyond the passages of time. It effortlessly uncovered a QE2 £1 coin from 2017, seamlessly bridging the gap between different eras. This modern treasure served as a testament to the Manticore's versatility, reminding me that even in the digital age, the allure of tangible currency remains.

An Ancient Roman Gem:

One of the most breath taking moments of the day came when the Manticore led me to a silver Roman Antoninianus coin, minted during the reign of Herennia Etruscilla in 249 AD. Holding this ancient gem in my hands, I couldn't help but marvel at the craftsmanship and envision the bustling streets of ancient Rome, where emperors and empresses once walked.

The Mystery of Queen Victoria:

Among the treasures that emerged from the soil of Wiltshire was a worn coin featuring the image of Queen Victoria. While its specific denomination remained unknown, the mystique surrounding this discovery was undeniable. I couldn't help but wonder about the countless stories that intertwined with this coin, the hands it had passed through, and the moments in history it had witnessed.

Unearthing Forgotten Accessories:

As the day progressed, the Manticore unveiled a collection of rare buckles that offered a glimpse into the fashion and style of bygone eras. From a buckle dating back to the 1400s, evoking images of chivalry and knights, to a buckle from the 1600s reminiscent of the enchanting times of Shakespeare, each treasure unearthed transported me to a different epoch, revealing a tapestry of human history.

A Modern Twist: The Yale Key:

In a delightful twist, the Manticore's search led me to a Yale key from the 1930s. This unassuming key served as a reminder of the ever-changing nature of technology and security. Holding it in my palm, I contemplated the countless doors it had once unlocked and the history it represented, a testament to the evolving world around us.

The Beauty of Wiltshire:

Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Wiltshire, my metal detecting journey took on a magical quality. As I explored the rolling hills and ancient sites of this historic county, the beauty of the surroundings enhanced my sense of wonder. Sharing the experience with two fellow detectorists operating Equinox 800 detectors added a sense of camaraderie as we uncovered hidden treasures and marvelled at the stories they revealed.

Conclusion:

My day of metal detecting with the Manticore in Wiltshire was an extraordinary adventure, filled with excitement and awe-inspiring discoveries. From the treasures of Elizabethan England to the mysteries of ancient Rome and the enigmatic artefacts of more recent times, the Manticore showcased its remarkable capabilities. This experience reinforced my passion for unearthing history and reminded me of the profound connections we can forge with the past through the art of metal detecting.
